Code of Conduct

By nurturing a sense of wonder, promoting a spirit of collaboration, and fostering a lifelong love of learning, Children’s Museum of Franklin strives to inspire the next generation of innovators, problem solvers, and compassionate global citizens. In order to achieve this vision, Children’s Museum of Franklin (CMF) requires that all visitors, staff, and volunteers adhere to our Code of Conduct.

Be Kind, Respectful, and Inclusive

Everyone is welcome at Children’s Museum of Franklin. We ask that you are kind to and inclusive of all visitors of CMF. Words and actions are powerful when interacting with others and are often mirrored by children. By being kind and respectful, modeling positive behavior, and assuming good intentions of others, we will create a fun, inclusive environment to discover, imagine, and grow together.

Be Open-minded and Ask Questions

Every person has the right to think independently and have different interests. Additionally, there are many different ways to learn and solve problems. By being open-minded and asking questions, we can learn respectfully from each other.

Stay Together to Have Fun

Learning together for children and families is at the core of Children’s Museum of Franklin’s mission. Please stay together with your children at all times to help them make choices that are appropriate for their age and ability.

We Expect All Museum Visitors, Staff, and Volunteers to:

  • Wear shirts, bottoms, and shoes at all times

  • Not display profane, obscene, or injurious language or graphics

  • Not use offensive, abusive, threatening, or violent language or behavior

  • Not bring weapons of any kind

  • Not possess, use, or sell alcoholic beverages or controlled substances.

Mobile Museum Policies

Facilities

Children’s Museum of Franklin Mobile Museum (“Museum”) will be hosted at a variety of locations in Franklin and the surrounding communities. We are working to select venues that offer large, safe, and accessible spaces where families can play and learn together. As guests in these locations, we ask that all Museum visitors stay in designated Museum areas and treat the facilities with respect.

Code of Conduct

Our mission is to empower children and families to discover, imagine, and grow together through play and exploration. We appreciate your support in helping us uphold this mission. We ask, while you are at any Museum events, that you follow our Code of Conduct (above), which includes treating all Museum visitors, staff, exhibitors, and the facility itself with kindness and respect.

Risk and Adult Supervision

Children’s Museum of Franklin asks that children be adequately supervised by parents/guardians at all times. Adult supervision by you helps kids make choices that are right for their age and ability. Children are not permitted to enter or leave Mobile Museum events without an adult.

Cancellation of Registration

Visitors of Children's Museum of Franklin (“CMF”) who have registered in advance and need to cancel their visit are asked to contact CMF as soon as possible to enable staff to release the tickets for other visitors. Tickets are non-transferable and non-refundable.

Attire

Children’s Museum of Franklin recommends that visitors wear comfortable clothing to allow for movement and exploration. Creative play, especially in the MakerSpace, may result in messy clothes, so we ask that you plan accordingly. All visitors must wear shoes at all times.

Stroller Policy

For the comfort and safety of all during our busy Mobile Museum events, we ask that families leave larger strollers and wagons at home; smaller strollers are permitted. Exceptions will be made for any medical or accessibility requirements.

No Smoking

Smoking of any kind, including tobacco, marijuana, vaping, juuling, or any other e-cigarette, is prohibited at all Children’s Museum of Franklin events.

Photography Policy

During your visit, you may be photographed and/or videotaped by our staff or local media outlets for marketing purposes. If you prefer not to be, please let Museum staff know at the event check-in/registration. We will be happy to provide you with a “No Photos” sticker for each member of your party so that we know to avoid you with our cameras.

Accessibility

Children’s Museum of Franklin is committed to making our Museum an accessible space for all children and families. We are working to select spaces that are readily accessible, and are working with experts to build out spaces that feel welcome for everyone. If you would like to provide any feedback to the Museum to help improve the accessibility of our Mobile Museum events, please email meg@childrensmuseumfranklin.org.

Eating and Drinking

Food is not permitted in the Mobile Museum exhibit areas. Water and infant milk are permitted.

Infant Feeding/Nursing

While we plan to have a private infant feeding/nursing area in our permanent location, this may not be readily available at all Mobile Museum events. Infant feeding is always permitted at Museum events.

Cleaning

Museum exhibit materials are cleaned and disinfected after each event with CDC-recommended products. Throughout the exhibit space, there are bins for toys that have gone into children’s mouths. All toys placed into the bins will be cleaned and disinfected before being returned to the exhibit areas.
