Become a Visitor Experience Associate

Based at the Museum reception desk, the Visitor Experience Associate serves as the first point of contact for guests visiting the Children’s Museum of Franklin. This team member plays a key role in creating a welcoming, informative, and safe environment for children, families, and groups. The ideal candidate is enthusiastic, dependable, customer-focused, and passionate about providing exceptional guest experiences in an educational and playful setting.

In addition to supporting guest services, this role shares responsibility for maintaining a clean, organized, and tidy museum environment. From helping reset exhibits to ensuring common areas remain safe and inviting throughout the day, the Visitor Experience Associate helps preserve the joyful, welcoming space our community values.

Visitor Experience Associate

Location: 157 Cottage Street, Franklin, MA 02038
Employment Type: Part-Time, Hourly
Pay rate: $15/hour

Key Responsibilities:

  • Greet all visitors warmly and professionally upon arrival.

  • Sell tickets, memberships, and merchandise using the point-of-sale (POS) system.

  • Answer phone calls, respond to inquiries, and provide accurate information about museum exhibits, events, and policies.

  • Check in group reservations and assist with school or program coordination.

  • Monitor museum entry and exit points to ensure guest safety and security.

  • Provide orientation and directions to exhibits, restrooms, and amenities.

  • Assist with lost and found, minor first aid incidents, and emergency procedures as trained.

  • Help maintain the cleanliness and organization of the front desk and lobby area.

  • Communicate effectively with other staff and volunteers to support smooth museum operations.

  • Assist with visitor feedback collection and reporting.

  • General pickup and organization of exhibit areas.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 1 year of experience in customer service, hospitality, or a public-facing role, preferred.

  • Excellent verbal communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to remain calm and courteous under pressure.

  • Basic computer skills and familiarity with POS systems.

  • Passion for working with children and families in a dynamic environment.

Compensation and Benefits:

Compensation will be commensurate with experience and determined by the Executive Directors, with guidance from the Board of Directors.
